Cheese-loving eccentric Wallace and his cunning canine pal, Gromit, investigate a mystery in Nick Park’s animated adventure, in which the lovable inventor and his intrepid pup run a business ridding the town of garden pests. Using only humane methods that turn their home into a halfway house for evicted vermin, the pair stumble upon a mystery involving a voracious vegetarian monster that threatens to ruin the annual veggie-growing contest.

Winner of the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, The Curse of the Were-Rabbit combines stop-motion wizardry, cozy British humor, and monster-movie parody into one endlessly charming package.

American auteur Kelly Reichhardt (First Cow, Certain Women, Wendy & Lucy) is back with her latest straight from the Cannes Film Festival! The Mastermind, starring Josh O’Connor and Alana Haim, is Reichardt’s detour into the crime/heist genre, told only the way that she can. 

In a sedate corner of Massachusetts circa 1970, an unemployed carpenter turned amateur art thief plans his first big heist. When things go haywire, his life unravels.

The Mastermind is being hailed as one of Reichardt’s boldest gambits. With a standout central performance by Josh O’Connor and a director pushing her signature minimalism into new terrain, it’s one of our most anticipated releases of 2025.

David Lynch’s 2001 neo-noir mystery masterpiece Mulholland Drive is back at The Frida Cinema!

Betty Elms (Naomi Watts), a hopeful actress newly arrived in Los Angeles, discovers a woman (Laura Harring) with amnesia hiding in her aunt’s apartment. The two women set out to uncover the mystery of the stranger’s identity, leading them through a labyrinth of cryptic clues, sinister characters, and dark Hollywood secrets. As their investigation deepens, the narrative becomes increasingly disjointed, reflecting Lynch’s signature exploration of subconscious fears and desires.

With its haunting atmosphere, fragmented storytelling, and an unsettling score, Mulholland Drive is widely considered a masterpiece of psychological horror and ambiguity, earning Lynch an Academy Award nomination for Best Director and gaining a reputation as one of the greatest films of the 21st century

In a futuristic New York known as New Rome, visionary architect Cesar Catilina dreams of building “Megalopolis,” a utopian city that redefines society’s limits. Opposing him is the corrupt Mayor Franklyn Cicero, who clings to power and profit. Between them stands Julia, the mayor’s daughter, whose love for Cesar forces her to choose between loyalty, ambition, and the fate of humanity.

John Waters’ gleefully campy classic Hairspray is being threaded up by our friends at See It On 16mm for a sock-hopping good time on the big screen!

‘Pleasantly plump’ teenager Tracy Turnblad achieves her dream of becoming a regular on the Corny Collins Dance Show. Now a teen hero, she starts using her fame to speak out for the causes she believes in, most of all integration. In doing so, she earns the wrath of the show’s former star, Amber Von Tussle, as well as Amber’s manipulative, pro-segregation parents. The rivalry comes to a head as Amber and Tracy vie for the title of Miss Auto Show 1963.

Megadoc is coming to The Frida Cinema for a special two-night presentation. Director Mike Figgis’ behind-the-scenes documentary chronicling the ambitious and often chaotic making of Francis Ford Coppola’s long-gestating passion project Megalopolis.

Shot over several years, the film follows Coppola—now in his 80s—as he self-finances a massive, decades-in-the-making science-fiction epic about rebuilding civilization. Through intimate footage, production meetings, and candid on-set moments, Megadoc captures the enormous creative and logistical challenges of realizing a dream that has obsessed Coppola for more than forty years.

Rather than presenting a tidy “making-of,” Figgis’s film becomes a portrait of obsession, creativity, and artistic risk. The result is as much about the filmmaker himself as it is about the film he’s trying to make—a meditation on the uncompromising pursuit of art.
