Our Broadway Thursdays: Segerstrom Center at The Frida kicks off with the greatest love story ever told...the original 1991 Beauty and the Beast!  When the bright and bookish Belle takes her father's place as the prisoner of a mysterious Beast, she discovers that the fearsome creature and his enchanted household are hiding a heartbreaking secret. The second film in our Broadway Thursdays: Segerstrom Center at The Frida is Francis Ford Coppola's adaptation of The Outsiders!  In 1960s Tulsa, class divisions ignite a violent rivalry between the working-class Greasers and the privileged Socs. When a deadly encounter forces two Greasers, Ponyboy and Johnny, to flee, their struggle for survival and redemption exposes the fragile innocence and enduring bonds of youth on the wrong side of town. Featuring an astonishing ensemble cast before they became Hollywood legends, including C. Thomas Howell, Matt Dillon, Patrick Swayze, Ralph Macchio, Rob Lowe, Tom Cruise, and Emilio Estevez—The Outsiders remains one of the defining coming-of-age films of the 1980s.

We're getting real glam with the third film in our Broadway Thursdays: Segerstrom Center at The Frida series as we screen Baz Luhrmann's adaptation of The Great Gasby!  An adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's Long Island-set novel, where Midwesterner Nick Carraway is lured into the lavish world of his neighbor, Jay Gatsby (Leonardo Dicaprio). Soon enough, however, Carraway will see through the cracks of Gatsby's nouveau riche existence, where obsession, madness, and tragedy await. Overflowing with lavish production design and a bold modern soundtrack the way only Baz can do, The Great Gatsby embraces spectacle in a way few literary adaptations ever attempt.

For our final screening in our Broadway Thursdays: Segerstrom Center at The Frida series, we're dying to bring you the wickedly funny cult classic Death Becomes Her! Longtime rivals Madeline Ashton and Helen Sharp will stop at nothing to outshine one another, until a mysterious potion promises youth and beauty forever. It's the kind of deliciously over-the-top crowd-pleaser that only gets better with age.
