Butcher Baker Nightmare Maker + Don’t Go in the House: Cinematic Void
Join our friends from Cinematic Void for another special horror screening, this time a double feature of William Asher’s Butcher, Baker, Nightmare Maker and Joseph Ellison’s Don’t Go in the House!
Butcher, Baker, Nightmare Maker: The only man in spinster Cheryl’s (Susan Tyrell) life is her orphaned teenage nephew, Billy (Jimmy McNichol). But when Billy starts seeing a girl for the first time, Cheryl will stop at nothing to keep him all to herself—including implicating him in a grisly murder under investigation by a psychotic police detective (Bo Svenson). 7x Emmy® nominee Julia Duffy and Bill Paxton co-star in what’s certainly the most joltingly violent psychosexual shocker ever made by a creator of the Beach Party franchise.
Don’t Go in the House: As a child, Donald Kohler (Dan Grimaldi) grew up under the sadistic rule of his overbearing mother. Her method of punishment? A severe burning. Through the years, Donald finds no comfort, sympathy, or rest in the real world. When he discovers his mother has died in her sleep, he thinks he may finally be free. But with the nightmarish visions and voices in his head, the damage has been done. Now he hopes to incinerate his repressive past by seeking out young women, taking them home and burning them alive. A notorious “Video Nasty” slasher that delivers on its title, this disco-infused slasher is a grimy, NYC-set update of Psycho for the 1980s.
The Frida Cinema's seating is first-come, first-serve. For our Midnight Screenings, please plan on arriving by 11:30pm to ensure ample time for parking, picking up concessions, and securing optimal seats. Screening will begin promptly at midnight.
