Erupcja

Director Pete Ohs new relationship drama Erupcja is coming to The Frida Cinema, starring big screen icon Charli XCX!

While on vacation in Poland, Bethany (Charli) breaks away from a romantic itinerary planned by her doting boyfriend, Rob (Will Madden), fearing that a marriage proposal is imminent. Reuniting instead with an old friend, Nel, the two women rekindle a uniquely combustible chemistry over the course of a few days in a chaste but burning trust predicated on sapphic synchronicity and a mutual penchant for poetry.

After premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival last year, Erupcja hits our screen on May 15th. Ohs co-wrote the script with all of the movie’s lead actors, lending the film to a very untraditional and exciting approach.

Allegro Non Troppo

Our friends at GKIDS are presenting a brand new 4K restoration of the fantastic Italian sendup of Fantastia, Allegro Non Troppo!

An enterprising producer believes he has hit upon a winning concept: a program of original animated shorts set to classical music. Undeterred by warnings that this has already been done by an American named ‘Prisney,’ he rallies an orchestra of geriatric women, a bullish conductor, and an animator that he keeps locked in the dungeon. What could go wrong?

From evolution gone haywire to a lonely cat navigating a decaying world, Allegro Non Troppo swings between absurd comedy and quiet melancholy, all wrapped in inventive, boundary-pushing animation.

Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai

Live by the code. Die by the code.

Our second Volunteer of the Month pick for May 2026 comes courtesy of Rose, who has chosen Jim Jarmusch’s Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai!

In one of his defining roles, Forest Whitaker brings a commanding serenity to his portrayal of a Zen contract killer working for a bumbling mob outfit, a modern man who adheres steadfastly to the ideals of the Japanese warrior code even as chaos and violence spiral around him.

Featuring moody cinematography by the great Robby Müller, a mesmerizing score by the Wu-Tang Clan’s RZA, and a host of colorful character actors (including a memorably stone-faced Henry Silva), Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai plays like a pop-culture-sampling cinematic mixtape built around a one-of-a-kind tragic hero.

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

Three men. One fortune. And a whole lot of dust.

Celebrate 60 years of Sergio Leone’s sprawling Western epic The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly with a new 4K restoration!

The film follows the uneasy alliance between Blondie (Clint Eastwood), the ruthless Angel Eyes (Lee Van Cleef), and the volatile Tuco (Eli Wallach) as they race to uncover a buried cache of gold. As betrayals pile up and loyalties shift, there’s only one way to settle their differences…in one of cinema’s greatest final showdowns.

With its operatic scale  and iconic score by Ennio Morricone, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly redefined the Western, turning it into real spectacle and electrifying the hearts of filmgoers for decades past its initial release.
