Ha-Chan, Shake Your Booty!

Get ready to shake what you’ve got as present a limited run of Ha-Chan, Shake Your Booty!

Haru (Rinko Kikuchi) and Luis (Alejandro Edda) are passionate competitors on Tokyo’s ballroom dance scene, but when tragedy strikes, Haru retreats from the dance floor and into herself. With some encouragement from her friends, she returns to the studio and finds herself drawn to a new instructor (Alberto Guerra), forcing her to confront the possibility of moving forward.

Directed by Josef Kubota Wladyka (Tokyo Vice) and winner of the U.S. Dramatic Directing Award at Sundance, Ha-Chan, Shake Your Booty! is a wildly stylish drama with just a little bit of magical realism. At the center of it all is Rinko Kikuchi, giving Haru a performance that can move from heartbreak to hilarity in the blink of an eye.

The Exorcist

The Exorcist is the next film up in our Art House of Horrors: Presented by MUBI series!

When young Regan MacNeil (Linda Blair) begins exhibiting increasingly disturbing behavior, her desperate mother Chris (Ellen Burstyn) turns to doctors, psychiatrists, and finally the Catholic Church for answers. As Father Karras (Jason Miller) struggles with his own crisis of faith, he and Father Merrin (Max von Sydow) confront an ancient evil in one of the most terrifying battles between good and evil ever committed to film.

William Friedkin’s 1973 masterpiece shattered the boundaries of mainstream horror, turning a story of demonic possession into a deeply unsettling drama about many things, but mostly…the nature of evil. From its unnerving sound design and groundbreaking makeup effects to unforgettable performances from its extraordinary cast, The Exorcist became a cultural phenomenon and remains one of the defining horror films of the 20th century.

Please note: we will be screening a 4K restoration of the 122 minute Theatrical Cut of the film!

Night of the Living Dead + House on Haunted Hill: Presented By See It On 16mm

Our friends at See It On 16mm are back for their annual unspooling of George A. Romero’s Night of the Living Dead, but this time its on a double feature with the original Vincent Price House on Haunted Hill!

Released in 1968, and unlike anything audiences had ever seen, Night of the Living Dead strands a small group of strangers inside a farmhouse besieged by the ravenous dead. As flesh-hungry ghouls close in outside, tensions boil over inside—fear, mistrust, and violence consuming the survivors faster than the monsters themselves.

And then, after a 10 minute intermission, William Castle invites you to spend one terrifying night inside a mansion where five strangers have been offered $10,000 each to survive until morning. Their host, the sinister millionaire Frederick Loren (Vincent Price), assures them that the house is haunted. But as the night wears on and the guests begin disappearing one by one, it becomes increasingly difficult to tell what’s supernatural… and what’s murder.

Don’t miss this awesome double feature on the big screen!
