Spielberg Summer keeps rolling on with Raiders Of The Lost Ark, the film that introduced audiences to one of cinema’s greatest heroes: Indiana Jones!

When the famous archaeologist and adventurer is tasked with locating the legendary Ark of the Covenant before it falls into Nazi hands, Indiana Jones embarks on a globe-trotting quest filled with pulse-pounding action! From Peruvian jungles to Egyptian deserts, Indy must stay one step ahead of ruthless enemies in a race for an artifact said to possess unimaginable power.

A loving tribute to the adventure serials of the 1930s and ’40s that Spielberg and George Lucas grew up on, Raiders of the Lost Ark combines old-fashioned movie magic with some of the most inventive action filmmaking ever put on screen. More than four decades later, it remains the gold standard for cinematic adventure and proof that nobody does it quite like our guy Stevie!

We’re keeping French with the next installment in our Art House for Families series as we present Jean Cocteau’s sublime adaptation of Mme. Leprince de Beaumont’s fairy-tale masterpiece: La Belle et la Bête! 

Drawing from the classic French fable, the film follows Belle as she enters the mysterious castle of a cursed Beast whose world seems governed by living statues and other impossible acts of magic. You probably know the rest of the story, but you’ve never seen it told quite like this.

The spectacular visions of enchantment, desire, and death in Beauty and the Beast (La Belle et la Bête) have become timeless icons of cinematic wonder. It remains one of the great achievements of fantasy cinema, blending handmade visual effects and poetic imagination into something genuinely timeless.

From genre maestro Johnnie To, the story follows three knife-throwing, shotgun-toting, kung-fu-fighting super-heroines who must overcome their dark pasts in order to defeat an evil, baby-snatching eunuch who is terrorizing Hong Kong. Eye-popping motorcycle stunts, brain-exploding skeletons, infant cannibals, and kinetically choreographed wire work are all part of the delirium in this unstoppably entertaining cult favorite (referenced in Cheung’s international breakthrough Irma Vep), a kick-butt showcase for three of the coolest women warriors to ever hit the screen.
